I have always been a procrastinator, so I appreciate the hard deadlines we have with MKMMA. This week’s challenge was to write a Press Release by Thursday. That seemed reasonable, except I was not satisfied with my DMP. It rang hollow when I read it, and I knew something was wrong.
I emailed my guide Tuesday, and was surprised that he called me on Wednesday. We talked it over and I was surprised by my reaction to the conversation. Within about three hours I had completely rewritten and submitted my new DMP, and had my press release done by the deadline on Thursday.
I have held back reading with en-THUSI-asm as Mark J. instructs us to do, so I tried something new. I had to run an errand, so I took my new DMP with me, and read it out loud – with en-THUSI-asm at the stop signs and red lights and to my great surprise, I choked up and had to wipe away tears when I was finished. This one feels right. My subby must have been telling me that the first one was not right for me. I have a lot of cement to keep working through!
There are a few things that have surprised me this week – I’ve noticed that I haven’t looked ahead in TGS. This is new for me, because I used to like jumping ahead to see what’s next. Now, I’m better at being in the moment and letting tomorrow take care of itself. While I was reading it a few days ago, I noticed that I had started adding blue rectangles, red circles, green triangles and yellow squares randomly on the pages. I was about four pages in before I noticed I was doing it.
I also feel a little sad to leave Scroll 1 at the end of the day today. I know it will still be there, and that parts are locked into my mind, but it has become like a friend, and I’m moving on. That sounds a little weird that I will miss seven pages in a book, but a lot of weird feelings have come up in the last five weeks, and I’m looking forward to more!
I feel the same way about moving on – but onward and upward we shall go! The journey is awesome!
I had the exact same problem with my DMP & Press Release. I struggled with writing my Press Release for days because I just couldn’t see it. Once I got my DMP settled, the Press Release was written in a few hours.
I like the idea of adding shapes to The Greatest Salesman readings.
