Week 22 – one of my favorites! Not only is the MK about health and regaining health, and our powerful ability to affect our health, but also, it is Silence week!
Now, I will admit that last year as a new member, I had a difficult time with this – all the excuses came up – but I soldiered on and found two days in May that I could get away, and boy, did I!
I found a local retreat center with a house I could use for a nominal fee, and because it was mid-week and early in the season, I’m not sure there was anyone else on entire the 153 acres besides a few employees and me. It was wonderful and only about 40 minutes from home.
The entire drive out there, my mind was playing the following tape: “What would the person I intend to become do next?” “Speak to Him thou for He hears. And spirit with spirt can meet.. Closer is He that breathing and nearer than hands and feet.” “What am I pretending not to know?” over and over, getting me ready for my 48 hours.
I took my MK materials and read, and sat and journaled, and read and sat and journaled, and walked and sat and ate chocolate-covered walnuts and sat and journaled, and read and sat and walked and napped and sat. I saw birds I’d never seen in the area before, and let my mind rest as never before. I was restored.
This year, I’ll be skipping the chocolate-covered walnuts, but they will forever be linked to that silent retreat. I’ll be alone with my puppy after my husband leaves for a fishing trip, and already the subby is replaying the tape again in anticipation of the time next weekend.
“Speak to Him thou, for He hears, and Spirit with Spirit can meet-
Closer is He than breathing, and nearer than hands and feet.”
This sounds like a really great place to sit in silence. So glad it went well for you last year. I hour it goes equally well this year.
Thanks, Leanne. Here’s to a great time for us both!
Awesome! I used to do solitary bow hunting trips in early fall. I knew I needed the quiet and solitude and being alone with nature, not another human to be seen for 5 days was restorative. Those days are no more but I will take the time to find a similar retreat and take with me the knowledge and insights I have gained from KKMMA. Thanks for your fine post.
