I love Thanksgiving!
So many reasons – no pressure like at Christmas. No gift purchases, no crazy uncles to worry about, no big decor, and an entire holiday to give thanks!
This year there were a few small glitches in our day, but it turned out ok. I have done a 5K race on Thanksgiving morning for the last seven years. This year was no exception, but I did it virtually – in my neighborhood, because of a time conflict.
As usual, our oldest son, Chris, came in the morning to help his dad do the cooking, I finished the 5K, had time to shower and be ready for the rest of the family who were coming early. It is a tradition that we take the family photo for the yearly Christmas card on Thanksgiving, so that’s what we did.

So of course, there were out takes – which are actually my favorites! This was just a shot checking the lights. I was using a green screen for the first time to see if I could get something a bit different.
We had a family friend come over to operate the camera after I had it all set up, and she and her daughter did a great job! Trying to get six people, including a very small one, to all look at the camera and smile and not look goofy is always a challenge!

We ended up not using this set-up, because of some other issues, but the Chief’s theme was fun. We retook family pics a few days later, and that was the “official” 2022 O. Family Christmas card photo, but anytime I have a chance to take images of those I love, I’m thankful. This was also the 5th anniversary of a life-saving moment for one of us – so Thanksgiving is always the best time of the year!

What are you Thankful for this year?

I kind of wish I had a large family, Nancy. I could have an impact rating, dependent on how many sign up for MKE. Have any of your family members taken the plunge? Any reasons yes or no?
No, they haven’t. One son started at a very low point of his life, but he wasn’t ready ‘focus wise’ to do the class. I offer every year, and believe that when the students are ready, the teacher will appear, just as it happened for me. My family is pretty small compared to others, actually. I do realize that I’m blessed with the abundance I do have!
