We have reached the time in the class that I want to drive home a point to my members:
The world needs you! Just the way you are – sans cement! Since the beginning of the course in September, you have learned the why and how of the cement and have been introduced to simple exercises to break it off to become free to be the person you were created to be with the life you were meant to have!
We saw a great movie clip on Sunday from “Adaptation”. A simplification of the story is that Nicholas Cage plays a writer struggling to write a screenplay adaptation of the 1998 non-fiction book, The Orchid Thief. It’s a true story of a man poaching rare orchids from a preserve in Florida. The clip we saw was a powerful scene between Meryl Streep’s character, author Susan Orlean, and John Laroche, the orchid thief, played by Chris Cooper.
Full disclosure – I haven’t seen the movie yet, but this is the exchange between Susan and John that caught Mark J’s eye and spirt and I agree – This is what we’ve been telling you since September!
“Point is, what’s so wonderous is that every one of these flowers has a specific relationship with the insect that pollinates it. There’s a certain orchid, looks exactly like a certain insect so the insect is drawn to this flower – it’s double, its soul mate, and wants nothing more than to make love to it. And after, the insect flies off, spots another soul-mate flower and makes love to it, thus pollinating it. And neither the flower nor the insect will ever understand the significance of their lovemaking. I mean, how could they know that because of their little dance the world lives? But it does. By simply doing what they’re designed to do, something large and magnificent happens. In this sense they show us how to live – – how the only barometer you have is your heart. How, when you spot your flower, you can’t let anything get in your way.” (you can watch the clip here: ~Adaptation, 2002 )

Here are some amazing examples of what the writer of the scene above was describing:

That’s you, Felton, Ruthellen, Crystal, and Hugh! There you are Elle, Christina, Mandy, and Brad! I see you Eva, Riley, Maria, and Rav! Always remember: By simply doing what you were designed to do, something large and magnificent happens. . .the only barometer you have is your heart . . when you spot your flower – -you can’t let anything get in the way. BECAUSE OF THE DANCE THAT YOU DO, TO BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE – THE WORLD LIVES!!
SHINE, Tribe – in your place and be content! I love you and I am so proud to know each and every one of you!

I love you, Nancy! So grateful that you were assigned as my guide. I can’t imagine that there is anyone better suited to be a guide for this course.. and I am so fortunate to have gained an incredible friend.

Mawww Nancy! That was beautiful! So grateful for you and appreciate all the time you gave us and your postcards of encouragement along the way! So much has come together, and just knowing that if we see a quality in others, it’s because WE have it in us, is awesome to have discovered that! And that the Truth is not outside of us but within us! We truly have all the power to realize our DMP’s and there’s a lot happening even as I write this tonight! I’m getting out of my comfort zone and excited to do it!! Love you and every member of Our Tribe!! I’m grateful for the encouragement & support as a group when things went well and when we needed support! This is definitely not an ending but a beautiful beginning!
I am so grateful that you were in our tribe!
