Who remembers the Caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland? As usual – an interesting discussion in our MarcoPolo group this week reminded me of the scene of the Caterpillar asking Alice a very important question:
WHO ARE YOU?
And what did I notice in those MP discussions? I noticed some cement that needed to be broken off. In BIG chunks. Now. Like RIGHT now, not later.

(Warning: Mom voice coming)
The world needs you. The world needs all of who and what you are! Don’t listen to the old recordings in your mind – it is time for you to be YOU! Whatever that is! Do you have unusual quirks, odd clothing choices, ways of speaking? The world needs that! Do you have interests that you think are insignificant? no, No, and NO! Your interests, choices, quirks, and all other aspects of YOU have been given to you by God to be used in the world.
Stop apologizing for what you think may not fit into ‘the world’. If someone doesn’t like whatever you are bringing, that’s their issue – not yours. For every one that may not ‘get’ you – there are dozens of us that DO get you – and need you – just the way you are!

Go out there this week and be YOU! We need you!

Thanks Nancy. The visit with Dr. Seuss was fun. No one is youer than you. :))
Dr. Seuss is so wise!
I LOVE that Nancy! Why does it take us so long to figure that out in life aye? I remember when I was little, maybe elementary school, and even in middle school, in gym class, we would split into teams and one or two of the kids would pick who they wanted on their team. I was always one of the last or last one to be chosen. Right there, we get the idea we aren’t good enough. I grew up feeling more like an outcast, found my own tribe, but they weren’t even the right kids for me. I somehow, and I don’t know how, developed a love for my own self-expression and embraced the person I was no matter what others thought. I started intentionally being different, if the majority went one way, I went a different way.
The road less traveled is the best one!
that’s so good, Maria because that freedom wasn’t so “allowed” as it is not. You broke the cement!
