I had a blast Friday night!
First, let’s define the term:
FLASH: 4a: to break forth or out so as to make a sudden display, and MOB: 2: a large number of people. So now you know I was among a large number of people who broke forth making a sudden display!
Let’s start at the beginning – last year when I was grooving with Choir Bar, (see any number of my posts from the last year) I met a guy named Mark. Because he follows his heart, loving to bring people together with fun events, he got the idea to put together a singing Flash Mob. So a few months ago he put out a call on Facebook and about 60 people answered.
As usual, when you’re in the flow of giving and receiving, doing what you love, what’s good for you, and you aren’t taking anyone else’s good – things all work out. And so they did!
At the last minute, I recruited work bestie, Stacy, because our leader and creative director decided we needed a conga line. Stacy has been teaching dance for years and jumped at the chance to participate!

The event was held at the Lenexa Public Market, which is a cool venue in my town with vendors and great food options. It’s usually quite busy on Friday nights, and tonight was no exception. In addition to the usual crowd, a local elementary school choir performed shortly before we did, and many of them and their parents were still there when we started. We loved having them – they were so enthusiastic and joined right in the singing and conga line!
My son, Dan, who attended many Choir Bar events with me was happy to join in, as well as enjoying great pizza after!

As things always go, there were some glitches – two of our “Winter Wonderland” dance couples didn’t show up. One of our lead singer’s car broke down out of town and couldn’t get there, and the two videographers from the city also didn’t come. So, instead of a great, professionally edited video that we were expecting, we got one from an upstairs vantage point. Of course, being so close to the upstairs singers, and so far from the downstairs singers, it’s not the best, but we are certainly happy we have it!
So, what did you do Friday night? Something you love, I hope!

This was just awesome, Nancy!
It was a lot of fun – thanks for stopping by my blog.
Nancy, this was fabulous! So much fun for the performers and spectators. Wish I could have been there to see it. You were amazing!
Apparently we have an encore performance in a few weeks!
