Thanksgiving – Yay!
This year I’m grateful for. . . blah, blah, blah. Same stuff every year. Not that it’s boring stuff – it’s GREAT stuff, but we seem to say the same things year after year after year after year.
This Year Is Different
This year I’m still so very grateful for home, family, friends, good work to do, the blessings of God in our lives, our health and contentment – bountiful blessings my heart can barely contain! But this year, I’m especially grateful that it is the One year re-birthday of my oldest son. Thanksgiving 2017 he started a journey to reclaim his life, that almost claimed his life. There was no family dinner that Thanksgiving – just a heart-wrenching hospital visit, that turned into a week in ICU.
He’s well now. And content. And we had a wonderful family dinner yesterday.
And so much to be grateful for throughout that whole ordeal. I could try to put it into words, but I’m just going to leave you with the song that was on replay in my home, car, and heart for the weeks of his recovery.
I am grateful, and it is well.
Moved by the sound of His voice
Seas that are shaken and stirred
Can be calmed and broken for my regard. Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
Through it all, through it all
It is wellThrough it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
It is well with me
Far be it from me to not believe
Even when my eyes can’t see
And this mountain that’s in front of me
Will be thrown into the midst of the sea
Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
Through it all, through it all
It is well
So let go my soul and trust in Him
The waves and wind still know His name
It is well with my soul
It is well with my soul
It is well with my soul
It is well with my soul
It is well it is well with my soul
My eyes are on You
Through it all, through it all
It is well.Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
And it is well, with me.
Nancy, nice to read your gratefulness.
Thank you, John. I appreciate you reading my blog and leaving a comment.
Nancy so happy to learn your son is well. I have an 18-year-old myself, and it would be my biggest challenge to lose him, so I rejoice with you that your boy recovered. Wishing you many happy memories this holiday season!
