In this week’s Haanel, the instruction for the sit were to concentrate on Harmony. That’s it. Figure it out. So, I started with seeing the word HARMONY and tracing the letters in my mind – block, then cursive, then with little embellishments. Of course, my mind wandered after a few minutes and I had to bring it back. But then, I noticed where it went and what I was thinking about when it wandered.
It went a few places, but the one I remember most vividly was Two Sisters Farm.

Ryan and his wife and their two girls are hydroponic lettuce gardeners outside of town. I got acquainted with Ryan several years back at my favorite farmer’s market. I found myself thinking about his greenhouses and equipment, how he gets all those indoor acres planted with the four or five varieties of lettuces he sells, and how exactly small is a lettuce seed anyway? I thought about the water, nutrients, temperature, hours of sunlight, maintenance of the evaporating coolers, cleaning the trays, harvesting, transporting, and myriad other details of production, in addition to all the business details of the farm. Then I caught myself and centered back on Harmony. I realized my mind really hadn’t gotten away from me, but showed me a harmonious system. It all has to work or Ryan, his wife and the two sisters will be out of business – and the many restaurants, grocers and individuals like me will be without his wonderful lettuce. Harmony.

My mind also kept going to Harmony’s handmaiden – Balance. Putting those three words together (harmony, handmaiden, balance) with Webster’s definitions I get: Internal calm assisted by mental and emotional steadiness. Our Master Key class is helping us to understand how to achieve exactly that!
On this first day of 2017, my wish for all of you is to live, grow, and serve with internal calm assisted by mental and emotional steadiness, because as we know, the world without is a reflection of the world within.
Have faith and keep going!
